I - 哈哈森林里民主选举的故事

当哈哈森林动物管理会头儿狮子宣布秋天里将进行有史以来第一次竞选理事大会 ，哈哈森林的动物们都乐得眉飞色舞 ，大伙儿奔走相告 ，欢呼“ 哈哈森林终于有民主啦 !”

哈哈森林动物理事会的阿驴 , 鸡婆和狗狗可没有那么乐观。“我们仨一起这八年干得好好地 ，这新来的咋合作啊? 咱也得跟着新 的一起竞选吗？听说山羊也要出来竞选. 咱选不上该咋办呢 ? 咋办呢 ?” 鸡婆忧心忡忡，不停地 叨叨 。几天前，鸡婆婆才把横看看竖看看都不顺眼,与它井水不犯河水的孔雀从大院里赶 走，以为可以在窝里呆两天，孵孵蛋，数数小鸡 。没料到这会儿又来 事了, 这事儿更烦人 。“别担心, 鸡鸡. 俺说过的话就是理事会的命令! 俺 没说过的就不成效 ！瞧俺的.”阿驴边嗯昂, 边安慰几天没合过眼的鸡婆 。

阿驴很快地搞到了老鼠，黑熊和绵羊的三份简历，命令哈哈森 林动物管理会把它们作为正式侯选人让大伙儿在秋天选举大会上 举手通过. 森管会不同意阿驴的草率行事 ，要求它尊重民主 ，按法办事 。 阿驴干事倒还利索 ，马上撒开驴腿在森林里转悠, 没几天又收集到了老虎 ，大象等10份简历 ，还都带Ph的 ，也收下了山羊的 。

眼看森管会 准备在秋天选举会之前召开森林扩大会议来作最后决 定推出理事人选 ，贴出阿驴收集的简历来供大伙儿参考 ，选出最有能力和活力的新理事打理哈哈森林理事会，阿驴嚷道, “没时间开会了.今年俺们哈哈就不找理事了嗯昂 .”鸡婆附和 ，“是啊 ，哈哈 理事会缺人一两天不重要嘛 ， 咯咯咯 。” 狗狗则坚持要森林动物理事会来审批老鼠 ，黑 熊 ，老虎和山羊等资格……公说公有理，婆说婆有理。 由于没达成同一 ，动物扩大会议始终没有开成。

大伙儿听说阿驴的出尔反尔 ，很生气 ，纷纷跑去责问驴驴，闹得沸沸扬扬。于是阿驴开始散布：“俺说哈哈要找理事，可是没有说什么时候哈哈需要理事, 也许今年，也许明年。俺们就不招了怎么样. 俺就不明白了,哈哈没有理事会还就不行了吗”看着目瞪口呆的森林动物阿驴继续嗯昂嗯昂：“俺哈哈理事会不缺人呢. 你们瞧，俺哈哈除了俺们仨，俺有大牛和小牛，还有……”.“哞，哞，我们都到期了。我提出过我到期不干了, 但你们不让啊，哞，哞。”大牛缓缓走到阿驴跟前慢吞吞地说 . 没等 阿驴回答 ，大牛慢慢地向森林深处走去 。

森管会狮子眼明心亮 ，马上悟出了道道 , 旧的不去 ，新的不来 也不是个理呀 。干脆先稳住了人心 , 再推广民主 。况且 ，这仨没有 功劳 , 也有苦劳 。没有苦劳 ， 也有疲劳嘛 。好 ，你们阿驴啊 , 鸡婆的,不就是怕民主选举选不上 ，脸搁不下么 ，咱们低头不见抬头见, 成全了你们的面子好办事。也为了团结一致! 哈哈森管会德高望重 ，人心所向 ，狮子一声令下, 大小动物们想都没想森林里曾发生过农父与蛇的故事, 都刷地举手举通过了阿驴和鸡婆的连任. 哈哈森管会号召 : 从现在起, 森林里可以开始真正的投票选举啦 。

Swiss Cheese press release for Dec. Bridge Delegation trip

Alice Zhang was among 400 U.S. school district leaders and education decision-makers who participated in the 2009 Chinese Bridge Delegation: Taking the Next Step — a one-week education visit designed to strengthen and expand Chinese language programs in U.S. schools. The trip took place from Dec. 2 through Dec. 10 and was sponsored by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in partnership with the not-for-profit College Board.

This fifth Chinese Bridge Delegation trip was tailored to the needs of institutions already offering Chinese language programs, with a focus on in-depth school visits and educational workshops. The participants attended presentations on successful models and available resources, joined in partnership-building activities, and shared experiences and best practices for building Chinese language and culture programs with U.S. and Chinese educators.

“We’re encouraged by the enthusiasm educators have shown for the Bridge Delegation in both the U.S. and China,” says Gaston Caperton, president of the College Board. “Since the program’s inception in 2006, we’ve taken 2,000 U.S. educators to China to experience firsthand the culture of a country that is rapidly changing and growing on the global stage. We also now have 138 Chinese guest teachers currently in the U.S. teaching our students Chinese language and culture.”

Ms.Zhang’s mission of this trip was to search educational partnerships for Baltimore International Academy, a charter school of Baltimore City Public School System. She visited several schools in Chongqing, Sichuan. On behalf of the school, she signed Memorandum for partnerships between Baltimore International Academy and Ren He Jie Primary School of Chongqing, PRC. Ms. Crystal Chen’s Chinese Immersion Third Grade of BIA will pair with Class 9 Grade 3 of RHJ Primary. It is planned that the school will start Study China Program in Spring, 2012.

My Professional Profile

I was born in Shanghai, China, and graduated from the Department of English and Literature at Suzhou University. In 1993, I came to the United States for further education and earned my Master's degree in special education in 1997. I also did graduate work at Morgan State University in International Studies.

I have been teaching special education for 12 years in the Baltimore City Public School System at K-8 levels. In 2007 I joined a group of founders of a charter school--Baltimore International Academy to set up the school and I established the Chinese Immersion program. I have developed many educational and cultural activities both in the school setting and the regional area. I developed and wrote application for candidacy of PYP International Baccalaureate for Baltimore International Academy.

I have coordinated a program between Howard Community College and Suzhou University in China to build partnerships, serving as Director of Study China program. I have had three successful educational tours to China with participants who are from different regions in the United States.

I am a certified Chinese AP Reader of College Board. I teach for the Startalk program in summers. I was invited by the Arabic and Chinese Teaching Training program and worked as a lead instructor in McDaniel College.

I did volunteering work at Howard County Chinese School as vice principal as well as a member of Board of Directors. I work with Confucius Institute at the University of Maryland and a group of wonderful volunteers to found the Chinese Language Teacher Association in the National Capital Region.

Because of my involvement in the area of foreign language teaching and learning, I have been nominated and elected to become a board member of the Maryland Foreign Language Association (MFLA) since the Fall of 2009. I am also selected as a delegate of 2009 Chinese Bridge Delegation to visit China.

I enjoy traveling with my family or friends. I love to write about beautiful things I have seen. I like to cook and eat. I am an internationally-minded person.

丝绸之路--Startalkers of Howard Community College

今年是哈维社区学院(HCC)连续获得国家外语中心颁发的‘星谈’(Startalk)基金奖的第三个年头。几年来，HCC用这笔世界关键语基金从哈维县公立学校招募到了两百多名出类拔萃的高才生。我有幸参与这个阿拉伯语和汉语的暑期项目，并与今年亲自带领一班在美国生长的中国孩子加上几个学了一两年中文的美国孩子踏上了探索中国文化，寻找丝绸之路的旅程--‘星谈'中文102。

我们的丝路之行是在学院教室里开始的 。一张丝绸之路地图就是我们的全程。学生们用丰富的想象力追溯张骞出使西域的年代 ，并在地图上一路找寻他的足迹以及丝绸路上其他著名人物。他 们超越时空游历中国历朝历代。从古都长安至充满神秘色彩的西域，丝绸之路上灿烂辉煌的文化耀眼夺目，传奇的历史人物令每一个年轻的旅行者着迷。在途中, 他们把自己融进了上古时代：傅业淳把自己当成东汉军事家班超；张安 琪，于澜波和洪茉莉迷恋嫁给松赞干布的文成；郭汉加崇拜那征服了波斯及其它亚洲王国的亚历山大；张祥琳和马麦克自视是这丝路上西行的唐玄臧。

旅行者们寻根访祖，刨根问底。从汉字的起源到几千年来的演变，从十二个时辰到与之相关的动物，从百家姓到 自己姓氏的出典，从夏禹治水到帝制终止，从寓言故事到历史事件，他们在途中都 一一探索 。还绕道去叩开了孔老夫子的私塾大门, 搜寻这位中国古代杰出教育家的遗迹，并借了文房四宝，动手用毛笔和墨汁把脍灸人口的唐诗抄写在江南工艺扇面上，把在敦煌莫高窟见到的飞天临摹在扇子上。这些游历上古时代的旅行者还流连忘返于诸子百家，观看百花齐放，耳闻百家争鸣， 各家的经典名言是途中的箴言.

丝路上的艺术，舞蹈以及五花八门的体育运动也令这些年轻的长途跋涉者兴奋不已。他们用沿途学会的一些招式来解除漫长路途带来的厌倦。疲劳了，打一下太极，疏展筋骨 ；犯困了，扭一下大秧歌驱除困意； 玩腻了，用自制的橡皮泥做兵马俑捏嘉峪关； 饥渴了 ，闭上眼想象一下“四大名菜”的美味佳肴；兴致来了,看花灯猜谜语……

两千年前在丝绸之路上历尽千难万辛的张骞做梦也不会想到他花了十几年才走完西域之行，而生活在高度发展的科学技术时代的业淳,安琪,澜波,茉莉,汉加,祥琳和麦克则利用暑期的一半时间，就能完成汉武帝时代的重任伟业。这些现代生活中的骄子不愧为炎王子孙的后代，他们在长途跋涉的丝绸之路上充分展现的才能和智慧是时代的结晶，也是骄傲。愿这些“星谈 ”的孩子们把国文华精髓和从中得到启示与现代科技文化融会贯通, 更上一层楼！
